I have MSN 6.1. webcam working ok but when I click invite
Audio, it never successfully connect. I read about
disable QOS, just need to know what is side effect if I
do that? I am also using zonealarm. I set accept all for
Messenger. I am very frustrated with MSN 6.1 now.
Help!!!

I have same frustrating problems. Now I use MSN Messenger
Web Cam and Yahoo Messenger for Audio.
IT is suggested that the problem may be solved by
configuring the Firewall setting?

I share the same very frustration too.
Why don't they make Messenger 6.1 more user friendly.
How can you expect the majority non-technie to know how
to open a port or tune a router. I don't know for sure.
Will Jonathan comes to rescue?

HELP...

A couple of you posting so far with the same problem..

It happened to me too. Me and a friend, successful with Yahoo
Messenger, tried MSN Messenger about 3 weeks ago. Video = fine.
Audio = the thing said "connecting with Donald", but after like a
minute aborted saying "Donald stopped the audio connection". (we just
never connected voice). We tried 5 days in a row. I thought there
was an audio server down. Someone told me there is no such thing as
an audio server. Day 7 we tried it one last time - and it connected
audio. Very quickly too.

Neither of us changed anything on our computers except for Norton
anti-virus updates, &/or maybe a Windows update. He = zone alarm
firewall, me = XP's built-in firewall.

Strange it all of a sudden worked for us after a week. And works
great ever since.

I prefer MSN Messenger because I am dial-up, and once in a while in
Yahoo Messenger his voice cuts out on me briefly.

Also (warning to dial-up users contemplating what to buy) - it is
wasted $$ for dial-up users getting a good modern webcam with a
built-in mic, because with me, sending video to each other and doing
voice at the same time screws up the voice connection, so you
sometimes don't hear every word completely - not enough band-width I
guess. It's better to buy a microphone and forget about video. MSN
Messenger allows you to have your picture in the window, while Yahoo
messenger doesn't.
