Attachments with outlook 2003

I have been sending dwg file to clients for years using
email attachment in outlook.
Now I am being told that the files are beile recieved as a
dat file and not the dwg file I sent.
When I use Outlook express, All is well.
Anyone have a work around for this?

This is a sign that the message is being sent in Rich Text format.
