attachment access

Howdy,
Many E-mail attachments from friends and family
members are automatically killed by my XP system.
A message display says, "OE removed access to the
following unsafe attachments..."
I don't know what to do to gain access. I don't know
if the fix is in Windows, in something preset in my HP
computer, in my ISPs virus protection, or in my Norton
anti-virus subscription.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

1. Start Outlook Express.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click the Security tab, click to clear the "Do not allow
attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially
be a virus" check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.
