ATI Radeon + MS Word = CRASH :(((

Hey
I changed my GeForce 440 Mx on ATI Radeon 9200 SE it was bad idea... The
card is faster but the drivers are unstable !!! I read a lot about problems
with drivers... and they seams to be sign by a microsoft !!! But when you are
working with Word you get crash. The problem is known for a long time why
nobody does anything about it ? I changed drivers on some third party (
Omegadrivers because they don't use ATI Fastwrite ) and the problem seems to
be resolved. The questions stays how MS signed this drivers if drivers are
incompatible with their software...

ATI Radeon 9800XT here,no problems with word and we use the same drivers.

We had problems with the Radeon 9000 series cards, too. Part of the
problem is they run real hot, but also turns out you need to install
latest version of DirectX before installing the card drivers. This is
also a case where the MS supplied driver works better than the driver
direct from ATI.

you can reduce the heat by either adding a liquid cooling system or
adding more fans. I have not had any problems since I added another fan .

Yes, that is exaclty what we had to do, add another case fan, and in one
batch of PCs we actually sent them back and had the manufacturer put the
guts in better ventilated cases.
