Applying Spanish SP1 to English XP

M

Mark Eby

My nephew, who is from Mexico and doesn't speak much
english, purchased a computer a few months ago from here
in Texas. Of course, XP is in English even though we we
set his location to Mexico and his language to Spanish.
This has been a problem for him since he doesn't know the
meaning of most error messages and such.

My question is this: Would it be possible to apply the
Spanish version of SP1a to his version of XP? Wouldn't
this automatically make a good portion of his XP in
Spanish? Or would it just crash?

Thanks!

You must use the same language version of SP1.
If you attempt to install the Spanish version of SP1
on a computer running the English version, you'll
get an error message and the installation of SP1 will
abort.

One cannot change the language version of Windows XP.
You'll have to purchase a "Full Spanish Version" of
Windows XP, reformat your hard drive, then install it.
