Apply Filstrip View to Sub-Folders

I have a large "Pictures" directory with many sub-folders, and new
sub-folders added each time I download photos from my camera.
I want all these sub-folders to be Filmstrip - I can set the top level
folder to be Filmstrip, but I don't want every folder on my PC to be
Filstrip, just those sub-folders of Pictures - how do I do this ?
Thanks

For XP to remember the "view" settings of each folder or subfolder.

Open the folder or subfolder and set the view you want.

Click on Tools on the top bar.

A window will open.

Click on the View tab.

Scroll down the list and check the box "Remember each folder settings" and
click OK.

This will work fine, but not for more than 400 folders. Probably not enough
for you.

To increase this from 400 to, say, 10,000, you need to edit the registry. As
you know editing the registry is always a tricky thing if you are not in
this game. But there is an easy and safe way to edit the registry, at least
for some minor things like changing 400 to 10,000 or some other minor
things.

Download TweakUI from this site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Save the file in one of your folder. After saving it, open the folder and
double click on it to install it.

Then, click on Start, All programs. Look at the list. You will now find
TweakUI for Windows XP. Click on it and click on TweakUI for Windows XP on
the opening list.

A window will open.

In this window, you will see Explorer with a + sign at the left of it. Click
on the + sign to expand the list and you will see Customization. Click on
it. You will see the default, 400. Just change this to 10,000. Don't worry
about "saving storage space message the default is 400". With a recent XP
computer there is no need to worry about storage space for this item.

That wasn't quite what I meant.

Once I have selected Filmstrip for the top level folder, I then want all
sub-folders to also have the saem Filmstrip view. At the meoment they are all
Details which is pretty useless for pictures.

How do I make Fimstrip apply to a particular folder, and all its sub-folders ?

Thanks

John

You can for all folders and subfolders. But I don't think this is what you
want, you want this (Filmstrip) only for your picture subfolders.
The only way I know is to open the subfolder, change the view to what you
want, have the settings for XP to remember the view you selected, so that
when you close the subfolder and open the subfolder again XP will open it in
Filmstrip.
