anti-spyware message

A red button with an X on it pops up a message that says my computer is
infected with spyware. It indicates that windows will now download and
install the most up-to-date antispyware. It then says "click here to protect
your computer from spyware!"
I try clicking on it, but nothing seems to happen except for the box
disappears momentarily. How do I 1. fix the spyware problem if I do in fact
have one and 2. get rid of this red button and pop up message? It is really
annoying. Thanks for all the time and effort if anyone can help.

your PC is infected with spysherif,
go to this site:
http://www.ewido.net/en/
Download and Run Ewido
Clean up your Temp folders.
