annoying scroll bar problem

Sandy

Hi Folks, thanks for reading. I don't know if anyone else
is having this problem, but after some recent Microsoft
updates, I now have an annoying problem with Internet
Explorer. Normally, when you click directly on the scroll
bar on the right side of the screen, the screen scrolls
down approximately one screen-length. However, my
computer now scrolls down 2 screen-lengths per click. The
arrows still move approx 1 line each time, and the mouse
wheel still moves one screen-length (per the settings).
Can't figure out where the setting got changed for
clicking onto the scroll bar. Help?

its a glitch caused by the InternetExplorer Critical Update
either uninstall the update from add/remove
or wait for microsoft to issue another update which will hopefully fix it

Hi Sandy,

Try clicking the scroll bar just below the black arrowhead at the top of the
scroll bar.
It works for me.

Good Luck.

This problem came after your installed the 824145 fix.

MS knows about this problem and working on the issue.

You can remove the update 824145.
Add/Remove program applet.

I have the same issue, but update 824145 is not listed under Add/Remove programs.

Are you sure? I missed it at first because I had the same scrolling problem
in the Add/Remove window and it was skipping the point at which the patch
was listed. Catch 22. Try using the arrow keys to scroll through the list.

On the other hand, other users have reported they could not find it. If you
search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for Q824145 and dig deep enough there
are instructions for removing the patch from a DOS command prompt. I don't
know how well that method works.
