Nice display, the quick refresh works (using the tray icon), but. . .
I can only close it by rebooting (Win98FE) :(
the desktop turns black - Xearth remains. . .
Where did I go wrong?

It was me that did something. I left mine running and did not notice
this. I'll backtrack and see what happened here.

as Roger said - call it a "feature" => problem solved. ;)

I used Cousin Stanley's list and your coordinate info to create a web
page. I added a grid column (10 degree "squares") to group "neighbors"
near each other. If/when either of you have revisions or additions I'll
update the page.

So I tried it again now, the old version of xearth, and it still works
the same, it disappears completely, restoring automatically the black
colored background. And I am pretty sure that it restored the earlier
wallpaper too, when I used a wallpaper, when closing xearth.

It does, I have another old version, which shows this behaviour, too. I
can't say why I knew that this background is only a remainder, but not
the program itself. Maybe it is because I know my machine quite well, so
I could tell the difference.

It was a registry read that I hadn't seen before. I commented it out
before zipping in b2. It's uncommented now and the program closes as
it should. I'm looking it over for other errors. I should upload a new
one today.

Way cool!

I did discover another entry that needs a minus:

..000.50 57.01 1.15 UK; Hampshire Harvey Van Sickle

Should be:

..000.50 57.01 -1.15 UK; Hampshire Harvey Van Sickle

I was having troubles on the meridan <G>.

Sorry for the delay. Here is a version that works correctly:

http://woundedmoon.org/xearth/Xearth-ACF-v1.zip

Source code:

http://woundedmoon.org/xearth/Xearth-ACF-v1-source.zip

There are still 10-15 people I did not catch in the acf_where thread.
I have added everyone else I had a location for. Holler if you'd like
to be listed in the next release!

I discovered an error that might corrupt the marker files. It should
be fixed now.

The program now uses 11 marker files.

Page:

Program:

Source files - Visual C++ 6.0 and some C:

Marker files - 125 ACFer's loaded in 11 files.

I couldn't read the fine print on Xearth. . . :(

REM has graciously "volunteered" to take over the upkeep on the web
page. Thanks REM!!! His arm *will* recover eventually. . . ;)

(REM, I suggest you add the http://woundedmoon.org/xearth/ URL to the
acfWhere web page.)

FYI - if anyone wants to download the table on the web page for their
earth project the data file (.csv file) is named acfWhere.txt - the URL is:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/acfWhere.txt
