Animated GIF in PPT 2000 on click & performance probs

Instead of starting automatically, I have read here that you can have an animated GIF in a PPT file start on click by using the Custom Animation feature. But, when I set my gif file to appear on click, the animation has already started playing, i.e., when it appears it does not start from frame 1, but instead it starts at some frame ahead.

How can I set the GIF file in PPT 2000 so that it starts at frame 1 on click?

Also, I have noticed that my GIF file's playback time seems to bog down towards the end of the animation..the frames are played back much more slowly than in the beginning...when it loops back to the beginning, the playback speeds up again.

What can be done to insure a consistent playback time?

thanks,

The animation of an object refers to its movement on (or across) a
slide.

The GIF's frame animation isn't the same kind of animation, and it's not
controlled by PPT. Basically, when you insert a GIF into PPT, it just
plays. You don't really have any control over it.

You can convert your aniGIF to an AVI if you need to be able to start it
playing on a mouseclick.

has instructions.

As far as it bogging down, I'm not sure what that's all about. Maybe
changing the framerate would help?

Hello Mary Ann,

PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking for (the
ability to control the playback of animated GIF's).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
