" and @ swap in MS Word

Hiya, I have a mildy frustrating problem that crops up intermittently when
using Word 2000 in the UK.

Sometimes my quotation marks " " " swap with my @ for no apparent reason. I
don't know if the US keyboard layout is different, but I usually get the
quotation marks by Shift+2, and the @ by Shift+'

This disappears if I shut down Word and open it up again, but it's a bit
annoying. It also seems limited to Word, as the problem doesn't transfer to
any other applications.

Can anyone suggest why this might happen, and how to rectify it?

Thanks in advance

This happens when your keyboard layout is somehow swapped from UK to US.

Thanks to you, I've tracked it down to the Left Alt + Shift hot keys for
changing the input locale. I can now toggle between them to my heart's
content!

Glad you got it sorted. I wouldn't want to be swapping, though!
