Don't have an answer for you Tom. Have requested some advice from the
developement team and we'll see what, if anything, they have to say about
it.

Sorry Gini, but I'm out of ideas then. It sounds like a damaged Inbox, but
there are no repair tools available. You might want to look at your Event
Viewer and see if you can find any errors associated with the ESENT engine,
and post that info as a "bug" to Microsoft. (To open Event Viewer, right
click the My Computer icon, select Manage, then click on Event Viewer in the
left hand folder tree.)

I too have a "message could not be diplayed"notice. When I try to delete, it
just sits there. I just looked in my event viewer and found the exact time my
windows e-mail froze the incoming e-mail. The source was "winlogon". The
Event ID is 6000, whatever that means. I'm not well versed in computer lingo.
Task category is none. I'm at my wits end with this. Please help.

Hi

I have just experienced the same same problem, nothintg suggest3ed in this
forum works. What I did was created a new user, copied my files over and
created a new email box. Haven't tried importing the messages yet but if
necssary bI shall leave them in the old user. Bit clumsy but it works.

You vwould have though that Bill with all his billions would produce better
software than this!!!!

Cheers dave

More of the same this is totally stupid as it has been going on since Sept
of last year. HOW DO YOU FIX THIS PIECE OF SH&T.

Message doesn't exist any where to be able to delete it. Ran the WMUtil
program still doesn't fix it.

BTW this is for Vista Home Premium.

Remove your mail account. Then you should be able to delete the message.
Then add your mail account back again.

the VISTA MAIL PROGRAM - WHICH PRODUCES - AN UNKNOWN ERROR HAS OCCURRED -
WHICH PREVENTS ME FROM SENDING ANYTHING BECAUSE THE CORRUPTED EMAIL MESSAGE
IS IN THE OUTBOX- MAKES THE PROGRAM VISTA MAIL UNUSABLE.

ITS A PATHETIC RESULT OF RELEASING IT BEFORE ITS TIME.

IS ANYONE AT MICROSOFT WORKING ON THIS AT ALL?

Your CapsLock key is stuck.

First thing is to remove McAfee or Norton AV and antispam from the computer
if they exist. You may need to visit their website to fully uninstall the
product. Then get something less invasive. There are a number of free
antivirus programs, but with any you have to disable email scanning. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

After that, the only solution so far is to wipe out the database. So go to
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store Folder to find the message
store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to
another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing
in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly
then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and
point to the directory to which you moved the files.

Microsoft is working on the problem.

Have you tried marking the message as read and then deleting it? That's
what I've been doing and so far it has always worked. Other things:

Try repairing the database with WMUtil from www.oehelp.com

There are two copies of WindowsMail.MSMessageStore, One in
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Microsoft\Windows Mail
and one in
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Backup\New
If you delete both of these the database will be rebuilt. However, while no
messages should be lost, some may be downloaded again and you may lose some
record of which have been read. I recommend that you only do this when they
are causing you trouble, like when they are in the Outbox. Otherwise I now
just mark them as read and ignore them.
