If you disable the Preview Pane under View/Layout, can you then delete it?

Sorry Gini, but I'm out of ideas then. It sounds like a damaged Inbox, but
there are no repair tools available. You might want to look at your Event
Viewer and see if you can find any errors associated with the ESENT engine,
and post that info as a "bug" to Microsoft. (To open Event Viewer, right
click the My Computer icon, select Manage, then click on Event Viewer in the
left hand folder tree.)

I am having the same problem that you fellows have except my message is stuck
in the out box. I have everything that has been suggested with no results.

Perhaps, but the ghost messages (IME) aren't in the folder, only in the
messagestore file itself.

If you deleted it and you're still getting an error, you may need to Compact
the database so that they will be reindexed. In OE, this was simple, but in
WinMail, you have to reset the program defaults. Try clicking
Tools/Options/Advanced, then Maintenance button and change the setting from
Compact every "100" runs to every "1" and Apply and exit Windows Mail until
you get the message about compacting. See if the problem is fixed then and
you can reset the option back to 100.

From that, I would have to suspect that you are still running an early
preview of Vista. In the RTM or Gold version I don't see that behaviour
although it was frequently present in earlier versions.

Or they updated from a previous version. This is not a good idea with
WinMail, as they changed the database in the final builds and the older
databases can cause errors, as people are finding out.

I have also have this error with a stuck message in my outbox. I have gone
into the message stor outbox folder and it is empty. I have gone through the
compacting procedure several times. The original outgoing message was large
and failed.
In order to send email cleanly without having answer no the default mail
account since it thinks that the partial message is invalid is crazy so I
dropped back to Outlook for my mail. Does anyone have a clue on how to really
get rid of a stuck message in Vista Windows Mail RC1?

Short of wiping out the database, no.
