I am having the same problem with one message in my outbox which I can't
delete. All my new emails ready to send are being held here and it won't let
me send. How do I correct his problem???

Well, same error. I can receive e-mail but not sending them, with one
un-deletable e-mail in the out box. Here, Microsoft, you collect money from
everybody, then have all users come together, banging their heads together,
and pretend they don't exist, this is your "technical support". Great idea.

Great, I wish I can do business that way.

Haha.

When I access www.familysearch.org it freezes and does not allow me to enter
succeeding windows or return to my homepage. My only exit from the "frozen"
window is through the icon at the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
There seems to be no problem with other websites. Any suggestions for solving
the problem gratefully received.

And, this is somehow a Vista Windows Mail problem???

Try the Internet Explorer or Vista General newsgroups.

I'll assume (often a mistake) that you're asking about Internet Explorer
instead of Windows Mail.

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. See this
article first:
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete date (such
as passwords.) Do you have those backed up?

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971
Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Gayle,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility (follow Steve's directions to save to your
desktop). Then use the utility (after unzipping) to compact your e-mail and
the problem will go away. Then, in the future, compact your e-mail every
time the dialog box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail.

Good luck.
