Am getting error 80042110. What is wrong?

As of two days ago, I am able to send messages but not receive them on
Outlook. Yahoo page works fine. I get this error message on Outlook:
"Receiving error 80042110. POP3 server is providing inconsistent information.
Number of messages returned by the STAT command does not match the number of
items returned by the UIDL or LIST commands."
What is this and how can I fix it?

I have the same issue (with my wife's email account), also with Yahoo.

We have deleted (actually moved) all the emails from the Yahoo inbox to a
new folder, and then Send/Receive works fine - of course there are no emails
to download. But as soon as she gets a new email - error comes back.

Yahoo tech support insists the issue is with Outlook, as their email servers
are 'fine'. Any one have any clues?!?!?

Per a post on a similar issue, I turned on logging to see what Outlook's
complaining about
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479)

I was hopeful, as the person posting in "Error Retrieving E-Mail" had a
discrepancy in the numbers returned by the LIST and STAT commands, making the
error message understandable. However, the numbers reported by all three
commands are the same!

Now I don't know what to think. I went in the Yahoo email account and
deleted, resynced, sent myself some new emails, and in every call all three
commands return the same values correctly and in every case Outlook throws me
the @#$@#$ error message, preventing any of the emails from being downloaded.

Hi there
I'm getting the same error. Has anyone found a resolution to this problem? ISP says everything is fine from their end. Very frustrating
