AIW 8500 DV and 8.5 ATIMMC.EXE Error

Hope someone can give me a tip on this one.
Running Win XP Pro with AIW 8500DV. After upgrading to the latest
drivers (3.7) I can not get into the TV (release 8.5) application
without getting the ATIMMC.EXE error that show 3 seconds upon the TV
application is started. Tried going back to 8.1 release, the same
thing.
It works fine with old 7.x.
Any ideas?
Tried reinstalling the whole software package many times....
Thanks,
Ig

I don't know why but after an update many months back, something similar
happened to me. I just lived with it since I uninstalled an reinstalled a
zillion times. But, after a hard drive crash I had a new hard drive and when
I reinstalled the software, no probs.
I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you but maybe a complete install will
help.

Whenever I install ATI drivers I use the instructions here

Other wise you will get errors. Believe me.

I Had the same problem as euro, after installing the cat 3.7 suite my tv
tuner came on for 3 secs then exited, so done the uninstall clean up in the
rage3d link above and guess what, even worse:

Start up tv tuner ap, Initialisation wizard starts, go through set up and
tv tuner comes on for 3 secs then exits just leaving the sound playing in
the background, try to relaunch tv app and it just cycles through the same
problem, init wiz starts etc.

Tried uninstall - reinstall no help,

System AIW8500dv
Athlonxp 1700+
768mb memory.
cat 3.7
mmc8.5

Same problem here, but with a very different rig:

AIW Radeon (7000 series) w/ Catalyst 3.6
P4 2.8C on Asus P4P800 Deluxe (intel 865PE chipset)
Windows XP Home

The card and MMC has worked well in several systems over the past few years,
but this problem of ATI TV starting then immediately exiting with an error
has me stumped. I've de-installed/re-installed WDM, drivers, and MMC
multiple times, including going into Safe Mode and deleting every reference
to ATI software/hardware I could find in the registry and deleting every ATI
file from the Windows system32 and dll cache folders. Nothing helps. ATI
support never responded (in person) to a problem report I filed; all I got
was the usual boilerplate on de-installing/re-installing which I had already
seen and tried.

I installed a trial version InterVideo WinDVR 3 and it worked without
problem with the 3.6 WDM and driver. Unfortunately, retail WinDVR is a bit
pricey, so I'm doing without my AIW TV for now.
