AIW 9800 pro:ATIMMC has a problem and needs to close.

I just purchased an ATI All In Wonder 9800 Pro video card.
I previously used an older 32-bit All in Wonder video card, but
upgraded to the 9800
because it has a remote control tv tuner included. I followed the
installation instructions
to the letter, even upgrading my motherboard's chipset drivers to the
latest version.
I am running WINXP on an AMD Athlon 2100+ (1.8 gig) CPU, with a
BioStar M7VIWD-A01
motherboard (FSB266, DDR266,2DDR, ATA-133 ATX)

Does anyone know if this motherboard is compatible with the All In
Wonder 9800 pro?
My 32 bit ATI AIW videocard worked fine with this mb.

I have installed , removed, and reinstalled the software and drivers
several times.
I tried three different versions of the multimedia center ( 8.10, 8.5 ,
and 9.08)
I had trouble removing mmc 8.1 from the list of programs (the others
would disappear completely from list of installed programs, but 8.1
stays on the list no matter what, even though it appears to be deleted
as there is no entry listed under 'size'.

The latest problem is it seems to refuse to install any version of mmc
now. I have tried both the installation CD and online downloads , but I
am now getting the error message 'ATI multimedia appears to not be
installed on this computer'.

I am about to give up. Anyone here experienced this?
What do I do now?

Something like this happened to me a while ago. I made sure I
uninstalled everything before reinstalling the latest drivers. Check
on the ATI website for a utility which removes ATI software, and then
reinstall. I think this will solve your problem.

thanks, I found the utility, and anyone reading this, make sure you
uninstall any display adapters before reinstalling
catalyst. Click on control panel, then system, then device manager,
then right-click on any ATI display adapters listed
and select uninstall.

Also make sure in the remove programs list, that you remove all DAO
programs. Make sure your remote wonder usb device is removed before
reinstalling anything, and scour your desktop, your program files, and
your documents for any ATI folders that need deleting.

Then, make sure you install everything in the order that it says on the
ATI site, and you should be ok.

note: Do not rely on the ATI uninstall utility alone. Use it first, but
ise the add/remove programs option in control panel also afterward,
then if necessary manually delete any unwanted ATI folders or programs
from Desktop and in your Documents.

I also have a new ATI All in wonder 9800, and I have some problems...
1) When I put the pc in hibernation, and I restart the computer, I get a
message that Windows is resuming but at the moment that the Desktop should
appear, the screen goes in stand by (no signal).
When I disconnect the monitor and reconnect it, the desktop re-appears.
2) When I put the computer in stand-by, I can, by no means, get it out of
stand-by : no reaction when I move (or click) the mouse of when I hit a key
on the keyboard. I have to restart the pc...
3) in some rare cases I get strange vertical lines on the screen, especially
when I use programs in pure dos (Norton Ghost or Partition Magic).

How can I get rid of these problems?

I gave up trying to use standby and hibernation in W98 before ever using an
AIW. Thought recently about trying it again in XP but haven't yet. Might be
a good idea to start a thread under this subject and see if anyone is having
success and if they are what version of Windows they're using. What , if
anything they did to make it work. I don't think it's an ATI or AIW only
problem. YMMV

I was referring to the standby and hibernation issue. Don't have a clue
about the lines other than the obvious. It's a display problem not related
to it being an AIW. You might try adding info to your post like what
version(s) of Cats(CP &/or CCC) you've tried, Versions of O/S, SPKs and DX,
what monitor you have, refresh rates and anything you've tried to resolve
the issue. Try searching in Google Groups. Good Luck.

Well, as suggested, I started a new thread today "Hibernation & stand by
problems with ATI All-in-wonder 9800" (16:23).
I explained the problem as good as possible (my English is not so good...)
and I hope I get some reactions....
