After reload of W2K SP4, it does not allow to other W2K pc to connect

Small network:
PC#1 with W2K SP4 newly installed, Norton Personal
Firewall Enabled but range of IP address allowed
+connected to Linksys router.

PC#2 with W2K SP3 connected to the same Linksys router.

Both PCs have their respective LAN Port's Properties with
(a)Client for Microsoft Netwoks; (b)SAP; (c)File and
Printer Sharing...; (d)NWLink NetGBIOS; (e)NWLink
IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible...(f)NetBEUI Protocol;
(gInternet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Problem: PC#2 can not connect to PC#1 when invoking from
RUN \\<PC#1 hostname>. Splash error window displays:
\\<PC#1 hostname> is not accessible. There are currently
no logon servers available to service the logon request.

But PC#1 is able to connect to PC#2 and able to fetch
shared folders' contents.

Question: what software services need enabling on PC#1?
Note: was able to connect both PC prior reloading W2K SP4
on PC#1.

You can remove the NWLink and IPX-protocols.
Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all W2K's. Got File- and Printersharing loaded?

Marina, THX. But I can't have the PCs in the same
workgroup. PC#2 (belongs to my company's DOMAIN) and PC#1
is my home PC belonging to my local workgroup. As stated
in the original message, I used to be able to connect both
PCs and access shared folders between them.

Now, with all of the security updates I can't even access
locally networked printers. ie: PC#2 must be off from the
company VPN to be able to print to my locally network
printer - this printer has its own static IP.

Any more ideas? Any networking books you can recommend?
I am using a DSL router - Linksys for the local network.

Thanks Eddie

Why don't you adjust your home pc's to your company pc's? That is, change
the workgroup name to that from the company.
Else there really is no now to get those pc's connected without asking for
passwords.
