Administrator's Password?

I am attempting to repair my system. So i pop in the WinXP CD, select the repair option etc etc... then it asks me to enter an administrator's password. My password doesn't work. Is there a set admin password? or what is going on???

The password being requested is that of the built-in Administrator
account, not the password for any other administrative user accounts
you may have created. Unless you've deliberately set the
Administrator's password via the Management Console (_not_ the Control
Panel), it's probably still blank. WinXP Pro asks you to set the
Administrator's password during installation, but WinXP Home doesn't.

In other words just hitting Enter should work.

You didn't select REPAIR if you were asked for a password. You
selected the RECOVERY console instead. To select repair, you must
select install, accept the EULA and then when the screen appears for
repair, and which installation to repair is asked, press R.

If you indeed wanted the recovery console instead, try a null for the
password, or press enter.

By the way, before doing any kind of repair, be sure to back up your
data first!

You *may* have set one for the Administrator account during setup, but
more likely, when booting the CD the password is blank; hit TAB to
bypass and then Enter
