Adminstrator Password

I had a problem with my Windows XP and am trying to fix
the problem with the Windows XP system disk provided by
DELL. However, when I try and repair Windows, it asks for
the Administrator's password. I never made one. But when
I just hit ENTER, it says that the password is invalid.
Does anyone know of a general password that would work?
If not, anyway to work around this? Thanks.
 
Have you actually deleted the dots in the password?

Try booting into safe mode (F8 on bootup) and then change passwords

or wait until somebody more smarter than me comes along!!!

not that i encourage the use of file sharing, but if you do use one,
there is a program called Passware that will allow you to recover the
admin password, if that's what you need....
