Administrator has restricted access - Message

On startup today I attempted to use an IPod and then to download pictures
from a d. camera via USB. The pop up messages states that the "administrator
has restricted access USB/1394 mass storage devices" Well, I'm the admin guy
and I did not.. The computer is not networked. Two users both with admin
status. It worked properly a couple of days ago.

Question is, how do I get back the use of mass storage devices? Thanks, Tom

Same problem here pal. It is almost like someone has taken over the system
and bumped you out of the admin position. Try running group policy from MMC
(start, run, type MMC, after console come up click file, then add snap on.
Click add, then select Group Policy) Permission are set here.

But, as I found, when I attempt to add snap in GP, I get that nasty message
telling me I do not have permission.

P.S. Anyone have any advice for my sit? Good luck

I reloaded windows and got it back. I also found that you can reset admin
stuff only by start-up in "safe mode'. I didn't do this because I was able to
'fix' the problem. But, give the safe mode a try, if for no other reason, to
see what is available! I still have issues about 'error' messages. I'll post
questions and HOPE for help! Tom

I've done a few re-installs. Dirty, clean. Booting from cd, floppy and hard
drive. Re-formatted, etc. Today, I came across something strange. I
attempted to run the group policy snapp in and the RSOP. I got a message
back telling that "security config. files were not located on the local
computer". It provided me with a network address where they were located.
The thing is, I'm not on a network. Just a stand alone computer with a cable
modem. I need some help here. Anyone?
