Address Bar starts local search

Whenever I type in an address to Address Bar (IE6)...eg www.bbc.co.uk.
it starts to search for a local file of that name (address bar
contents get replaced with something along the lines of "file
C://www.bbc.co.uk". and seems to search for a file of that name on c
drive. How do I get it to just go direct to address I type in. Thanks

Go to Tools > Internet Options. Go to the Advanced tab.
Scroll down towards the bottom and you will see 4 entries
for searching. Choose the radio button that says something
like 'Do not search from the address bar'. Click Ok to
save the setting.
