unable to search from the address bar

I can no longer search from the address bar. Every time I type a search word
or phrase I get "this page cannot be displayed". The title bar says "Invalid
Syntax Error-Microsoft Internet Explorer". The address bar begins
"http:///? "and then shows whatever I typed in the search. If I typed a
phrase, the spaces are replaced with %20.

I have McAfee VirusScan and Webroot SpySweeper running. At the
recommendation of Webroot, I ran HijackThis.

I am able to type an address into the address bar and browse to that page. I
just can't search anymore.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Try these two steps first. You might get lucky.
1. Internet Options> Tools> Programs> Reset Web Settings.
2. (Win XP) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Line 222 left
side.

Then...
Did you post the HijackThis log to one of the forums where they analyze HJT
logs? Try one of these:
http://forum.mvps.org/ Excellent help- low traffic. Visit
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4075 before posting the log.

http://castlecops.com/forums.html
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/index.php
http://tomcoyote.com/forums/
Look for the proper forum for HijackThis logs and a message along the lines
of "Important- Read This First."

Hope this helps,
Don
