Adding new *.adm templates to my Win 2k domain.....

I'd like to 'update' the system.adm and other *.adm
templates in my Win2k domain to support XP systems but
I'm concerned if I replace these and/or other existing
*.adm files it may play havoc with my current policies.
Any thoughts on the best way to do this?

Dear Seaver,

Thanks for the posting. My question really centers on the 'impact' adding
administrative templates (*.adm files) from my XP Pro machine to my DC group
policies. Will there be any impact on current Windows 2000 machines
currently getting GPOs or not?

Dear Sandy,

Thank you for the clarification.

There will be no impact in using XP's ADM file on Win2K client side because
they both adopt Unicode-based format. However, before the implementation,
please firstly check the ADM files, find and then modify those registry
entries different from those of Win2K. Otherwise the registry location
unfound" error can occur.

Microsoft recommends that you edit GPOs from Windows XP clients. You can
perform subsequent management of these GPOs
(such as linking them to domains or organizational units) from the Windows
2000 Active Directory management tools.

Regards,

Seaver
