adding network printer

While adding a brand new PC (Win XP pro with all current updates) to my small
home network, I have problem with the PC printing to a network printer. It is
HP 3055 all in one, connected directly to a router. Other two computers print
OK. On the new PC I have tried to add the printer using a window wizard. My
HP printer was not listed, so I have run Windows update (perhaps should
select have disc instead). After that my printer driver showed up on the
list. I have added it and set as a default. It shows on the list of available
printers as a default, ok. However, printing test page fails. The new PC
connects to the internet through the router OK, and sees the other two
computers, i.e., I can copy from shared drives, etc.
By the way, how can I get the printer IP address from a box that is
connected OK? One is Win XP the other W2K, both pro with all current updates.
Any suggestions, please?

Problem solved. Just if somebody searches this group for a similar problem:
the printer has to be installed with the HP installation software on a disc
that comes with the printer - not through add printer wizard. Thanks for help
received in General Discussion group.
