Activesync fails to install

The companion CD that came with my pocket pc has microsoft outlook 2002 and
activesync 3.7 on it.These are to be installed on my PC. Outlook installed
just fine,but when I try to install activesync,it doesnt do anything for
about 5 minutes,then a box pops up saying that" setup has detected that
uninstallshield is in use.Please close uninstallshield and restart
setup".Dont know where to close it from.Tried rebooting with no results.Any
help would be appreciated.Thanks.

Press [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] Keys to launch Task Manager.Click Processes
make sure that wcescomm.exe and wcesmgr.exe are NOT running. End these
processes if necessary.Now goto Control Panel and uninstall any
instances of ActiveSync 3.7.Try again to install ActiveSync 3.7.

If it fails again, go through the steps above, reboot in Safe Mode and
try the install from Safe Mode.

with students in my class. As soon as I logged in for them i

I have a similar problem with the installation. I have tried the OEM CD
with 3.7, which has worked in three other computers in the past, downloaded
the 3.7 and then even the 3.8. In all cases, there is not any evidence of
installation.

I tried both install from run from the download and also saving and
expanding the zip file. None of them would give me any installation. The
downloads do expand and some files save to the hard drive, but there is not
any installation.

I am using xp pro with svc pk2. Someone suggested an incompatability with
svc pk2 but that seems unlikely with both of the programs being Microsoft.

I have the same problem as rlk59. However, mine will not open the
"installshield" program at all. I tried to open the "setup.exe" from run
with the same results. I also tried to install from the safe mode with no
effect. I know the CD is good because I installed the program on another
laptop at the same time and it worked perfectly.
