Activating GPRS on Virgin

S

Hi,

I am on the Virgin pay as you go package. I had a Virgin phone which I
really didn't like - it was a Nokia 3510i.

My brother is on the O2 network and recently got a free phone as part of his
contract - a Nokia 3200, he didn't need it so decided to give it to me (I
really like it btw!).

I slipped in my Virgin sim card and the phone works fine apart from going
online. There are a couple of things I would like to clear up, which are:

Whenever I try to go online I get a message saying 'GPRS connection not
available'. I can't remember getting this message on my old 3510i (which
was purchased from Virgin). Is there a way to activate GPRS on my new
phone?

Also, on the phones desktop I get the Virgin network logo (which is fine and
as excpected), at the left bottom side of the screen there is a shortcut
button to the menu and on the right bottom side there is a shortcut button
to O2. If I press this button I get the same message as above 'GPRS
connection not available'. I'm not really too bothered about having an O2
shortcut on my Virgin phone as it is only a slight annoyance. Although it
would be nice to remove it or replace it with another shortcut. Is this
possible?

A big THANKS IN ADVANCE to anyone that replies. Your feedback is very much
appreciated.

Regards,

Sonars UK

PS: Can you send MMS picture messages on the Virgin network?
