Action Canceled

Anthony

Hi,

For the last few weeks i have noticed that many web pages
i visit have action canceled on them, mainly the ads i
think? - (Freeserves homepage top middle and ebay.co.uk
in the middle) I phoned freeserve helpline and they think
it might be a jave run time library problem?

Also some websites -(www.b&q.co.uk is one) displays the
same message with no site at all - do not know if this is
the same problem causing both errors

Would like any suggestions on how to fix this problem :)

Many Thanks
Anthony

It could be a Hosts file set to block ad sites.
Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Open Windows Explorer and click Tools | Folder Options | View.
Select Show all files.
Go to Start | Search and look for HOSTS. You may have to click Advanced and
tell it to include hidden files and folders.

If you are using WinXP:
Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to
hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.
