Account Password Verification

Just started happening this past week, and happening more frequently.....

In Vista Home Premium. I go to send an email (Win mail) and up pops a box
asking for the password for the email account I am using. If I click cancel
and then go to the outbox, open the email and resend, it goes through no
problem.

It will almost certainly do this if I have not used the computer for an hour
or so (although all power saving are 'always on'). It always happens within
ten mins of booting the computer in the morning. and is now happening more
frequently at other times.

I have scanned the computer for virus and malware etc - all clean, it's just
annoying!

You don't need to open the Outbox to resend.
Just click the little down-arrow next to Send/Receive and select
Send All.

Does it only happen when sending, never for receiving?
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems
with Windows Mail over time.

That's correct only when sending, not receiving. It's actually behaved
itself today (so far).
I did think about the anti virus - mine is Norton Internet Security 2009 -
so disabled the scan out-going messages option but didn't make any
difference.

Your original problem statement only spoke of a sending issue,
nothing about receiving difficulties.

Norton can interfere with email even when its scanning is disabled.

Yes, sorry, I meant stopped scanning the out-going messages. It has behaved
itself now for two days with Norton back on fully active, so fingers crossed
it's sort itself out!
