Access Denied in event viewer

M

Mike

When I try to look at the logs in event viewer I get
access denied. I get this on application and system and
not on security. I am loged on as administrator.
Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

There are several possible causes. Here are some ideas:

1) You may want to check permissions on the EVT log files under
%systemroot%\System32\Config folder.

2) There are some additional things to try in the following KB Article:

329848 "Access Denied" Error Message When You Try to Open the System Log or
the
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329848

3) You may have corrupt Sys/App event log files. Try renaming these in the
folder above and restart Windows to test.
