Access a printer using IPX

Without a Novell server present, I know I can access other PC's using IPX
protocol for workgroup level file sharing. (Vista not withstanding!) However,
using a standard HP Laserjet 4050n with IPX enabled, how can I access and
print to the printer directly, to mimic a similar result to creating an IP
printer port?

You need to use a network print port monitor that runs over IPX.

MS does not have such a port. HP had one long ago. If you have an old NT4
SP6 CD you could try installing HP's monitor
