Access 2007 Upgrade Problems

Help!

A couple of years ago I created an assets database using Access 2003.
Recently our computers were upgraded to Office 2007. I have been using my
assets database using the new Access 2007 and have updated and changed a lot
of objects. For the most part, it works OK. One thing I tried that did not
work is saving my assets database as an Access 2007 database. When I try, I
get a warning message telling me that all open objects must first be closed
before the conversion can take place. The same warning dialog asks me if I
want Microsoft Offfice Access to close the objects, to which I reply "Yes."
The Save As dialog opens, then I type in a new name, and I get another
warning dialog that says, "Could not use <filepath & filename>; file already
in use." Of course the file is already in use; how else could one save as an
Access 2007 version? Another troubling thing that may relate to this is file
label area at the top of my database clearly says "Microsoft Access 2000",
which is confusing, as I thought I created that database as a 2003 version...

My most recent problem is when trying to add buttons to forms. When I click
the "Finish" button at the end of the button wizard, I get an information
message that I don't know how to get around: "Microsoft helps protect this
VBA project with a password. You must supply the password in the Visual
Basic Editor before you can perform this operation." The Visual Basic Editor
pops up, but I can't see how to enter the requisite password. If I just
close the VB editor, it takes me back to the button wizard's last step,
where, if I press the "Finish" button, this process repeats. Sometimes this
hangs up Access and I have to open the task manager to shut it off. I have
already run the Office diagnostic, and it didn't help. I already have a
trusted location (although it is on a network). Lastly, I have tried adding
buttons to another 2007 version database, and they work flawlessly. I'd
really appreciate someone clueing me as to how to save my assets database as
a 2007 version (or at least getting around the button creation password
debacle).

Thanks!

Create a new database in A2007.
Import the objects from your database into the new database.
You will now have an A2007 version of your database.
There will probably be some errors in the new database as a result of the
import, but nothing that can't be fixed.

Jeanette,

Thanks so much--this was what I suspected I would have to do, but I just
needed a push to do so. I created a new blank database and imported all the
objects from the old version. The only thing that wouldn't import was the
switchboard form itself, which produced that same VB password message
whenever I tried to import it. So...I just deleted the Switchboard Items
Table from the new 2007 database(which did import OK) and created a new
switchboard from scratch. It works fine, and now I have a 2007 assets
database that I can add macros and modules to without hiccups.

Thanks again!
