Abnormal Program Termination

Hi,
I hope someone can help with this. I'm trying to help my
aunt. She connects to the Internet via RCA Cable Modem.
Last week, when she clicked the IE icon to get to the
Internet, nothing happened. Her cable service assures
her that the modem is working perfectly. I went over and
ran the PC diagnostics and ran her virus scan, and now
when we click on IE, she gets...
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IExplore.exe
Abnormal Program Termination
OK
The MS Knowledge Base said to uninstall and reinstall
AOL. She does not have AOL. What is causing this and
how can it be fixed? Thanks in advance for your help!

The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
