A unknown error has occurred

I can't help by laugh at all these posts. :) I'm having the same problem,
but I've had my computer with Windows Vista for awhile, well since Feb, &
it
worked fine until just a little bit ago. My Outbox won't clear. I wasn't
having issues until I tried to send an attachment. I was working on a
file &
wanted to send it straight from the program. The file didn't send, it was
Unknown Error, now it won't delete. Well, I sent it again, this time it
did
send & it STILL won't leave my Outbox. Go figure. But then I've been
having
problems with the computer freezing, too. This computer was bought in
Feb.
What I don't like about the Windows Vista is that I go to some programs
already on the computer (can't think of any now) & then click the Help
Button
& get the annoying message stating that Windows Vista doesn't support
older
versions of Windows Help. What!?!? First, it came with the computer so
everything should work. Second, that just means that all older programs
are
being pushed aside on purpose, but the updates are no good either because
the
help doesn't work! Why issue a program with a computer with another
program
that it isn't compatible with, why? Why? I don't get it. I miss 2000.
It
was simple, it WORKED. XP was okay, but I preferred 2000. I'm not into
fancy, I'm into practical, if you can have both great, but it has to work.

Hi Cookie,

I had the same problem but stumbled onto a solution.
If you highlight the email that has the error and then go to the button
under search you can select "Hide read messages" and that will get it off
your screen. It doesn't remove it but at least you don't have to look at it
all the time.

From what I have read about this error the only true way of getting rid of
it completely is to try a restore ( didn't work for me ) or try to uninstall
Windows Mail ( didn't work either ) or do another clean install ( my solution
saved me from having to do that )

I hope this helps ?

I had forgotten that I posted anything here. Well, I'll see about starting a
new thread, but I found a temporary solution to my Windows Mail issue.

I was only having the Outbox issue with the default email. So, I made a
bogus default email, then I made it so that it isn't included in the sending
& receiving of messages, if it is included then your other emails won't send
or receive. All my emails are sending and receiving just fine & this bogus
email is holding onto that one email that would never send & that can't be
deleted for some reason.

This is working until Microsoft has a solution. I hope this helps!

The only truth established by an honest person to date. Yes, junk it is.
Actually junk it to kind a word. Would like to find the producer of Vista
and shove it up his a** and get my old system back. Even thought of throwing
this computer in the trash and buying an old laptop.

Cant even post a reply without an unknown erroe occurring

To remove that error go to Tools menu>options>general and disable message
rating features>apply OK.
The feature is broken at the moment.

control/shift/esc
choose "processes" tab on top
go to the bottom of the list for the "winmail" process
choose "end process"

That will turn windows mail off

then:

from the start menu:
search/advanced search
location= "everywhere"
name= "WindowsMail.MSMessageStore"
select "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files (might be slow)"
search

two instances will be found. delete both.
ta-da.

it worked for me.
*** it also removed the files from my inbox/sent/deleted/junk local files.
However, the program recovered all of my e-mails, so I didn't lose anything.
I just had to move them from the recovered folder back to the local folders I
originally had them in. But quite honestly, if I can do it, it can't be too
hard.

Where does complaining get you?
You can either wallow in the 'woe is me' victim mentality,
or you can become pro-active and install one of many good
email programs like WLM or Thunderbird.

I would be surprised if you are running incompatible antivirus software.
Which product are you using?

Katrina - Can you provide step-by-step instructions on how you created the
bogus e-mail and directed it to not send and receive? Thanks.
