A good quicken alternative?

Good. Now stop whining every time someone does exactly that.

This isn't what happened and you know it. Junkmonkey was advising the
OP to give up and to purchase either Quicken or MS Money.

Both you and Glenn are missing the point entirely. The name of this
group is *ALT.COMP.FREEWARE*. Discussion of any other type of software
in this group (unless when the OP is using it as an example of
features desired in a freeware) simply clutters up the group and makes
it unusable.
If I came here looking for a freeware solution and somebody
recommended a commercial program instead, I'd tell that individual to
FOAD.

Listen, this group has no charter and is unmoderated. Yep, you can
talk about anything you like.... porn, gambling, warez, etc. However,
don't expect to do so and not get flamed.

You are one sad individual. I don't if I should feel sorry for you or not.
I don't know if it is arrogance or paranoia that drives you but get over
yourself. You are showing yourself to be a fool.

I'm going to have to shock you back to reality by saying I think Microsoft
has good stuff and I use a lot of it. I use WordPerfect also. I use a lot
of freeware too. Welcome to the *real* world.

Sooooooooooooo? It was a good suggestion and didn't come with a ridiculous

Gee, I guess you showed me. All that name-calling really put me in my
place. And that second paragraph obviously is something that I have no
connection with (not.) It's also an obvious ploy to get me to discuss
commercial software, but that ain't gonna happen.

As I said, this group is named alt.comp.freeware and the topic for
discussion here is supposed to be freeware. How can you argue with that?

EOD.

So... exactly what is it that you disagree *with*?

1. The fact that JunkMonkey was promoting commercial software (easily
proven)?

2. That this group has no charter and is unmoderated and that you'll
get flamed for talking about non-freeware?

3. That this group is named alt.comp.freeware and the subject for
discussion here is supposed to be freeware?

If not any of the above, then what?

J

John Corliss

And that's usually only when the OP does it.
Sooooooooooooo? It was a good suggestion

I stand by my assertion that promoting commercial software in this
group is unacceptable. The name of the group is alt.comp.freeware and
the topic for discussion is supposed to be freeware.
and didn't come with a ridiculous lecture and a chorus of whines.

Just WTF is that supposed to mean? Oh, that's right. It's simple trollage.
Unlike damn near every whine-post you made in this thread.

More of the same. And certainly makes absolutely no point whatsoever.
But then, what would one expect when you're obviously following the
directions given here:

Stop using sock puppets, troll. I'm tired of having to killfile them.

I don't know about the other two, but Panda Money is nowhere near

Maybe not, but the OP could really help a lot by simply listing the
features he/she is looking for. Also, John H. listed Cash Manager 2.0
as well.

Look, it's obvious that no program is going to be totally identical to
another. That's obvious. If the OP had simply listed the features that
he/she found critical in such an application, perhaps none of this
flame ware would have occured because it's more likely that somebody
could have provided (a) freeware solution(s).

Exactly what portion of the phrase"comparing freeware to commercial ware"
isn't about freeware?
Just WTF is that supposed to mean? Oh, that's right. It's simple trollage.

It means you act like a child and when you get pressed inot a corner, you
swear like a moron then declare that it's all trolling. Repeating infantile
behavior patterns like that is one reason a lot of folks around here thnk
your diapers stink, Corliss.
More of the same. And certainly makes absolutely no point whatsoever.
But then, what would one expect when you're obviously following the

Yep, definitely infantile, regressive and immature. Where's the
"I'm-going-to-have-the-last-word-like-a-petulant-child PLONK, Johnnie?
Stop using sock puppets, troll. I'm tired of having to killfile them.

JunkMonkey gave the requesting poster all the facts he needed to know about
his request. That MS Money is the only equivalent to Quicken is a fact, and
was
therefore required to be mentioned. I am calling this sound advice...

JC> 2. That this group has no charter and is unmoderated and that you'll

So what? There are always people out to get you; they have nothing
better to do with their lives.

So when do you discuss freeware again, after you are finished flaming

I agree John, it is galia and others that fail to see the bigger
picture. Above all else the *freeware* part of this group must be
protected, otherwise what do we become?
I don't agree 100% with your freeware definition, but the differences
are small and as always open to civil discussion. :)
You do a mostly thankless job for this group, and I for one appreciate
it, cheers.
