Hello,
I have Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop with Microsoft XP Home edition.
When ever I Logged in and open explorer, it shoots up to 99% CPU
utilization.

If I kill explorer process it comes back to normal. If I start again it
goes back to 99%. and Remains on same.

Due to this my desktop become very slow. Please let me know if anyone
could help in this case.

Thanks and Regards
Prashant

I am having problems with the windows explorer only when I add another hard
drive. I have all my videos in 250GB drives. Some on SATA some on PIDE.
Everytime I load one of those its okay ONLY when I hit explorer on the drive
it becomes 99%.

I thought it could be perhaps the indexing sub system so I'm letting it run
for a few hours and see what happens.

Any other ideas are most welcome.

you can open Task Manager and reduce the priority of Explorer. this will a llow the compuer to be used,.

there is probably 2 of them running.

just reduce the one that consumes the most CPU.
