8409 database error

Rhinehold

I'm receiving this error message in my event logs, it is showing up on
all of my AD Controllers. Can't find anything to help determine what
the issue is, does anyone have an idea?

This is a 2003 Domain, with a few 2000 servers remaining (soon to be
gone).

Rhinehold,

The only time that I have seen this error message, it was caused by one of
two things:

1. Check your domain controllers OU in AD Users and Computers snap-in.
Make sure that you only have Domain controllers in this folder. If you have
member servers or clients, it can cause this type of error.

2. Make sure that your domain controllers are on the latest service pack -
preferably SP4 but at least SP3. There were some hotfixes in these service
packs that deal with some things that might cause this type of error. It is
also recommended that you have all of your domain controllers on the same
service pack.

If you have sites configured in your domain, make sure that your subnets are
properly linked to your sites. If this was not the case, you would normally
see other errors, but you can at least rule this out as a possible cause as
well.

I hope this helps.
