2nd Harddrive causes Computer to hang

2nd Hard drive causes Computer to stop responding occasionally and I must
restart computer to get it to work. The 2nd hard drive makes a lot of noise
when this happens. I replaced the hard drive twice and the cable going from
motherboard to harddrive. I have had no problems when only 1 hard drive is
in. I tried new Bios upgrade but that didn't help.

Not much for details....However,if slave hd is on same IDE cable as C: then
move to 2nd IDE port, have IDE hd 1st,put cdrom or rw 2nd on the cable, set
jumpers accordingly. Also set slave with a page file in system properties.

Yes, I checked jumpers & did the diagnostic and no problems were observed. So
I have moved the 2nd Hard Drive to 2nd IDE port and put the 1st hard drive on
IDE 1 with the CDROM. I also set the page properties in the slave drive.
So far everything is working. I will monitor this and let you know in a few
days. Thanks for all your help. Note: I have another problem which is
unrelated which I will post.
