2 gig limit

I reached the 2 gig limit
I read an easy way of fixing this
create a new data file/drag all messages to new personal folder/closed
outlook
rename new data the same as original 2 gig pst
I was hoping new mail would go there, but it created an empty data file were
mail goes

First, what is your Outlook version?

Next, I cannot follow your procedure - it appears as if you want to get
your new mail into the new (full) PST file?

The easiest would be if you use Archive to get your excess mail into an
archive.PST file.

Not sure where you read this, but that is pretty much the worst advise you
can give someone dealing with this situation. This has a very high potential
of corrupting your mail profile. Instead, set the new pst-file as the
default delivery location and restart Outlook.

Without knowing your Outlook version, it is impossible to be any more
precise.
