1st Explorer screen freezes

When I open Internet Explorer, the window pulls up like normal. If I move the
cursor at all, the window freezes and the hourglass pops up. The window shows
"Done" in the corner, yet the bar shows it is still loading. I leave that one
frozen and open another Internet Explorer and it works perfectly, so I use
the second window. If I close the frozen window, in a few minutes I get a
message that there is a problem and Explorer must close. If I leave the
frozen window open, I can use Explorer for hours with no problems. What's
wrong?

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
For Malwares download both these software:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll click [OK]
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Note the space between regsvr32_dll in all cases ( or you can copy and
paste the commands in the run.
Reboot your machine, does the behaviour occur again?.
HTH.

Dear Nass,

Thank you so much for the info, but this didn't work for me. I did all the
clean up things. When I did the Run Commands, I had this message on the first
one: RegSvr32 - Dll Register Server in urlmon.dll succeeded. On the others,
a black screen would flash, but it was too fast to read any message.

I noticed that when I am opening the page that freezes, the bottom info bar
will state "unknown zone". (I have had this homepage for 2 years, so all
cookies and stuff should be well established.) Also on the bottom bar is a
icon that looks like a piece of paper with a shield on the front with an
exclamation point.

The only thing that I can up with, is that sometimes when viewing my home
page, I would get a message that the certificate had expired. Since I own my
home page, I contacted my server and was told to delete the outdated
certificate because I have a new active certificate for the page. There
should have been no problems, since the certificate was dead anyway.
