I've been running an old 16-bit app in Windows XP (SP2) just fine until the
other day. I get no error message, it just doesn't load (that is appear on
the screen) or appear in Task Manager.
ntvdm.exe does appear in the Processes window of task manager, as does
wowexec.exe, although it (wowexec.exe) is indented and has no size
displayed. I did some checking online which suggests this indicates a
wowexec.exe has been replaced by a bogus file. Also a Microsoft KB article
says that the file size for wowexec.exe should be 15,872 bytes, but that
article is from before SP2. My wowexec.exe is about 12KB, but in checking
with a friend, so is his.
Plus somewhere I read if sysedit.exe runs okay, it's not a problem with
wowexec.exe...
So...any suggestions as to how I track down the problem?
Thanks
