When I try to load an older program I now get the following messages

1.An application has attempted to load an 16 bit Dos driver, which can not be supported. This may cause the application to function incorrectly. Chose " Close " to terminate the application
2.The NTVDM CPU has encountered an ilegal instruction. CS:0dd2 IP:0108 OP:0f 00 00 00 2e Chose " Close " to terminate the application
3.config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft windows applications. Chose " Close " to terminate the application

I was able to install these programs before! Please Help

Hi John,

I did some searching in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and came up with an
article that describes your experience.

Error Message When You Install or Start an MS-DOS or 16-Bit Windows Based
Program

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767&Product=winxp

Please try out the solution offered in this article and let me know if this
helps you out. If it does not, I will dig a little deeper and see what I
can find for you.

Your help is greatly appreciated , but after trying the various solutions I am stil back to where I started from. The config.nt and autoexec.nt are as posted, the only thing that I did not try was the Command.com, it just seemed to scary a place to fool around in
I did not recieve the Windows XP installation CD-ROM's with my computer ( E Machine ) so I am at a loss on what to do next. Do you recomend I contact E Machine for a solution ?

Hi John,

At this point, it would be best to contact E-Machines. They should have a
hidden partition on the hard drive with all the windows files. Each OEM
does it a bit differently, so you will want to contact them and see how you
access your windows install files.

If you don't mind, please follow up with us and let us know how it goes. :)
