16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

Every time I start Windows (XP SP2), a message with the title of "16 bit
MS-DOS Subsystem" appears. The message body is
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.ext" The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal
instruction. CS:0e74 OP:ff ff ff 4d 00 Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application." with two buttons - Close and Ignore. Clicking on either
button will NOT close this small message window. The X button on upper right
corner is grayed out. So there is no way I can eliminate this message
window. Please help!

Thanks a lot in advance.
