ZTE MODEM

I cannot configure my modem ZXDSL 831 [ ADSL modem] manufactured by ZTE
corporation -- a company based in China.
I seem unable to configure the PPOE protocol and as such cannot connect
to my isp.
The help file says that if configuration cannot be done automatically
then it has to be configured manually.

I just tried to access ZTE's home page for information but it appears
the web site is either down or not functioning correctly. Anyway, I
suggest you do a Google Groups search for the model of your modem and
see if you can gather information on how others have dealt with it.

I received some hits from the groups so it's apparent there is at
least some information available about the modem.

Most ADSL modems are Plug N Play in XP and require little to no
configuring.
