ZoneAlarm Too Slow to Start

I have an up-to-date WinXP on an ASUS A7V8X-X
motherboard. After booting, on the first
logon, the system is very slow to start. In
particular, the ZoneAlarm icon takes several
minutes to appear. Once it appears, function
is normal, and subsequent logons are rapid.
I just updated the ASUS 4-in-1 drivers on
a guess. It made no difference.

Thanks for your suggestions.

ZoneAlarm Antivirus, Firewall, or Internet Security?

ZoneAlarm Pro 8.0.400.020 which is a
firewall with anti-spyware.

Mike.

Is the Windows firewall turned off? Are you running any other real-time
scanning antispyware applications? I was running Kaspersky Internet Security
with Spyware Doctor and the computer became impossibly slow until I disabled
real-time protection for both applications. Even with only one enabled, the
machine was very slow. Only run one firewall and one real-time antispyware at
once.

Following a suggestion I read on another thread,
I just completely removed ZoneAlarm and reinstalled
it. The problem is SOLVED.

Thanks for your suggestions.
