ZipTorrent 1.3.6.1

ZipTorrent is a small and optimized BitTorrent client with big plans
and a huge potential, developed using pure C++ by volunteers from
around the planet. We want to make it simple for the average joe to
join the growing world of file sharing, without relying on a central
resource (Decentralized architecture).ZipTorrent has two things some of
the clients here do not here: 1. An excellent (and very fast!) search
facility, which allows you to also filter by seeders/leechers, torrent
size, and so on. 2. A very nice multi-server IRC implementation that
allows you to receive torrents automatically from bots or from other
users. Besides that, many people who are considered very active within
the BitTorrent community have reported that with ZipTorrent they get
the fastest download speeds than with any other client, and I think
that pretty much is what matters most! The rest is kinda moot since it
pretty much does what all the other clients do, looks great, takes very
little memory, and so on.ZipTorrent uses the opensource libtorrent,
created by Arvid Norberg (http://libtorrent.sf.net)

That website looks very promising. I haven't heard of many of those
programs. Thanks.

This one is the best BT client I have run so far. All the Python based
ones are so greedy on resources. This one seems slim and fast even with
numerous torrents running at once. The looks could use some improvements.
A slim fast application like this should have an interface to match. It
doesn't.

I'm considering ResHacking some of those annoying graphics away. You
guys could just use http://www.bitcomet.com/

It's made in the same language as ZipTorrent, nicer GUI as well.

I ran both this afternoon, one file downloading.
Bitcomet was around 40meg mem usage
ZipTorrent peaked at 8.5meg

GUI ? To a point, but for performance so far, I'll keep Zip :)

It sounds as if the interface is exactly what is required and no more.
That, of course, is why the program is slim and fast. Add skins/looks
and you add bloat and slow everything down. You can't have it both
ways. Me, I go for the lean and hungry look.

....

Unfortunately I can't say the same about my body.

Exactly! ZipTorrent is a gem as far as BT clients go!

Well, it can be lean and hungry and still elegant. The buttons on
ZipTorrent ar too big and the tabs don't resize. Stuff like that gives an
unfinished look in my opinion.
