Your computer is infected

A red circle with a white "x" has shown up with the other start up icons in
the lower right corner. The message says Windows has detected spyware
infection, click here to protect your computer from spyware. Norton has been
run and the threat has been removed but the icon remains. I've clicked left
and right on the 'here' and everywhere I can think to click and nothing
happens. The message keeps comming back every minute or so. What's going on?
Is there any way to get rid of this annoying message box? All ideas,
suggestions, and comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Get rid of Norton.
