Not bad, but there are some points that need to be clarified.

1. This procedure would be equally applicable to XP Home and there is
no need to restrict the site to XP Pro.

2. The procedure needs to emphasize that it requires an actual
Windows XP Installation CD and that the "system recovery" CDs provided
by many computer manufacturers will not work.

3. The procedure needs to include mention of common errors, such as
what happens when the installed XP has been upgraded to Service Pack 2
and the installation CD is either the original release or service pack
1 version.

Hello Ron
Great I thought, an idiots guide - tailor made for me - that is worth
serious consideration.
So thanks for your 'points' to the poster - I had jumped to the conclusion
that my having an OEM XP Home with SP2 would be no problem - until you
replied. I must read things like this more carefully in future.
I hope the OP responds

I'm agree, but is dificult to find a guide for someone how don't know how to
work or is first time working with a computer, and this a least will guide on
some way in the steps. Plus.... you add the windows article.

The screenshot sequence is no different to installing XP from scratch. In
fact my own website
http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_install_windows_xp.htm shows a
similar procedure. The only difference between a complete install and a
repair is that a) you need to press the 'R' key on the Welcome to Windows
setup screen and b) a rapair install should not overwrite any files or other
software that is installed on your system. The repair only overwrites the
Windows XP operating system files.

Just a slight correction before someone points it out. At the 'welcome to
windows setup screen' one should click Enter first, then move through the
end user licence screen and, at the next screen select the operating system
you want to repair and press 'R'
