Reinstall XP Pro

Jer

Hi,

After 24 months of daily usage, I'm having to bite the bullet this weekend
and re-install XP Pro as I've now started to get some errors that I can't
fix (and it'll also be good to clear out all the junk!). I have 2 HDs, the
second just for data but the first partitioned into Primary (C, Windows &
apps) and Secondary (F, data) and plan to boot via CD and re-install into
the primary partition.

Whilst I've now backed up files and dug out the application disks/SP2 etc, I
still haven't got an absolute guide to this procedure either by Googling nor
via quick searching this newsgroup.I've found this resource for a parallel
install that I plan to adapt
http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/installxpcdparallell/indexfullpage.htm

Am I correct in assuming that I want to
1) Continue installing a fresh copy (ie not Repair)
2) ENTER to set up Windows XP on the selected item (ie my Primary/Windows
partition)
3) Continue the set up using this partition

Then at the choice of
4a) Format the partition..
or
4b) Leave the current file system and
Use the folder and delete the existing Windows installation?

I'm assuming I go with 4b as I'm already NTFS and planning to stick with it
and this way gives me a brand new clean install while leaving all my other
partitions intact. Can somebody confirm I've definitely got this right, as I
really don't want to make any errors here!!

And if anyone knows of a suitable guide to follow that I've missed, can you
post it here?

Many thanks,

Jeremy
