'You may not have permission to use this network resource'

I am connecting a new XPpro machine (all sevice packs &
updates applied) to a Domain (W2k Server) I can logon as
any user (inc. Administrator) and set up shares using
\\server\share but if I try and browse when I click the
domain I get "Domain is not accessible. You may not have
permission to use this resource. Contact the
administrator of the server to find out if you have
access permissions.
No more connections can be made to this remote computer
at this time because there are already as many
connections as the computer can accept."
However other win98 machines can login, the machine is a
member of the domain (as viewed both from the server &
workstation) I am in as Administrator both of the
workstation and the Domain and get the same result if I
am the first machine to login after a server and
worksation reboot. The Win98 PCs have no problems. I
have tried fixed and DHCP addresses and the only kb
article I can find with this error message refers to an
AV software I do not have (I have not installed any AV
software yet - infact nothing much bar Office).
All suggestions welcome.
